Aftermath

Just wanted to say big thanks for your replies after that request run. Everyone (well, with one MAJOR exception) has been extremely gracious and understanding even if they didn't get their requests done.

It was in the best of intentions, but after reflecting upon things I doubt I'll ever repeat the occasion. The big part of it is that even if I made 20 people happy, that still leaves almost a hundred other people disappointed, and having to tell all of these people they wouldn't get anything wasn't much fun. That's not good maths in my book.

The way I did things was probably a bit clunky, and despite my aim to be fair in choosing the pics I'd do, the fact is that since there was a personal (and somewhat selfish) decision on my part, on some level I'm guessing the system would be skewed somewhat if on an unconscious level. As opposed to say, a random selection. At least I'm fairly confident I didn't choose based on personal issues ("i.e. I don't like that guy"), and in fact with a single exception I barely knew the people for which I did pics. Even my girlfriend didn't get her request, so there's that.

In any case, thanks again to everyone for being good sports about it, and also to them people who took my defense with the aforementioned "major exception". And sorry for the people who got caught in the crossfire. Kinda hoping that will blow over but apparently there's still rumbling going around, so I'm sort of on guard for some possible subsequent backlash.
